THE AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL IN CANBERRA

I was in Canberra last week and took a walk around the outside of the Australian War Memorial. The architecture is 'uncluttered', set in a wide, lawned landscape with occasional groups of trees.
The simplicity of the outside of the building is very meditative. The inside is at times quite distressing. But then it should be as we remember the past and give thanks to those who paid the ultimate price.

WAY DOWN SOUTH 1.

Yesterday I returned after 5 days in the south of Tasmania, so I thought I'd share a few photos with you of the trip.
Today's image comes from the forest near Geevston, on the way to the famous Tahune Airwalk. More about that place in future posts.

AUTUMN

This photo is of a quiet section of the St Patrick's River, not far from Launceston in Tasmania.
The river is the city's water source and is home to numerous trout, some of whom have found their way into my creel over the years.
